Workshop Engineer (Suffolk)

Due to continued growth we're in the process of opening a new depot in Ipswich, Suffolk and will be fully operational from the new site by 1st February 2024.

Working under the supervision of the Depot Manager, our Workshop Engineer will carry out a wide range of repairs and refurbishments on all types of materials handling equipment, from small electric pallet trucks to large diesel and gas engine forklifts and side loaders. They will also often be required to service and inspect equipment, ensuring that all equipment meets the high quality and safety standards expected, prior to delivery. The contracted hours for our engineers are 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Many of our engineers choose to do overtime which is not limited and is paid at time and a half.

As a Workshop Engineer your key duties will include:

  • Follow the instructions of our Depot Manager to carry out repairs and refurbishments on a wide range of material handling equipment.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and PDI Inspections of new and used equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is serviced and maintained to the standards as directed by the manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Be proactive when maintaining trucks and following workshop programs, ensuring that all repairs are carried out in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Work using your own initiative when necessary, in a safe manner as laid down by the Health and Safety at Work Act, and always report to your Manager if you need assistance.
  • Ensure that all Workshop program Reports (and supporting documentation) are completed correctly.

Your abilities & experience:

· 3 years+ experience in the materials handling/motor vehicle industry

· Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical experience preferred

· Experience of Health & Safety requirements working in a workshop practice.

· Commitment to continuing personal and professional development.

· Excellent organisational skills.

· A high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.

· Ability to multi‐task.

· Ability to work independently or in a team.

· Good communication skills.

Field Service Engineer (Essex & Suffolk)

We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to service, maintain and repair forklift trucks and other material handling equipment at our customers premises in Essex and the surrounding areas .

Job Role:

Our Field Service Engineers are based from their homes and from there attend customer sites to carry out servicing and repairs on a wide range of forklifts and material handling equipment. The engineer liaises daily with their designated service controller who is responsible for arranging and planning the engineer’s working day as efficiently as possible. Jobs are sent to the engineer electronically via our bespoke management system, and this is where all the work the engineer completes is documented. Your abilities & experience:

· Full driving licence

· GSCE C grades or above in English, maths and mechanical C&G or NVQ level 2 equivalent

· 3 years+ experience in the materials handling industry (as an engineer)

· Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical experience preferred

· Proficient in fault finding and repair.

· Experience of Health & Safety requirements working in a workshop practice.
