Industrial Metal Services is a leading steel supply company based in the South East of England. Established over 40 years ago, they supply high-quality steel across the country, for use in engineering, architectural and large-scale construction projects. As a steel stockholder, the company has a large range of steel products, including sections, sheets, tubes, mesh, plates, as well as stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass and plastics. These products are housed in over 416,000 square feet of covered warehousing which is located in Central and Eastern England.
The forklift trucks are crucial to their operation and are used in a wide range of applications; from loading/unloading of goods in and out vehicles, through to supplying machinery with materials to process the steel to meet their customers’ requirements.
One of the largest trucks within their fleet – an older hire machine – was beginning to cause issues at their Baltic Wharf site as it was difficult to manoeuvre in some tighter areas of the yard. Looking at purchasing a new machine to replace the old cumbersome truck, IMS had heard good things about the Doosan product and Fork Truck Direct (via a good reference site next door to them) and asked if we could help.
When Dave Brown, FTD’s Sales Manager for Essex, discussed the Doosan heavy truck range with IMS they were impressed with the heavy duty construction and quality of the range. The Doosan D120S-7 12000kg capacity model was chosen as the ideal model for their application, given that it has a smaller chassis than most of its competition in that class, allowing the customer to utilise the full area of the yard, making it a very productive and versatile option.
The environment at the Baltic Wharf operation is very dusty as it is open to all the elements.
The Doosan D120S-7 has Oil Cooled Disc Brakes – fitted as standard – which help to optimise performance and keep costs low, being that they are virtually maintenance free, even in harsh environments.
The high quality electronic tilting ZEUS cabin on the Doosan D120S-7 is also included as standard. Fitted with a heater / blower system, premium leather heated suspension seat and the latest digital dash incorporating a weigh scale system, the cabin of the Doosan D120S-7 is certainly a very pleasant place to be sat in whilst working.
Having a local point of contact for all future servicing and maintenance requirements was also extremely important to IMS.
